XS1100 Yamaha used parts at half price from new.Parts for the older bikes are getting harder to find. If you have a bike that is over 10 years old Yamaha stopped making parts for them. When the inventory is used up, the parts are unavailable from manufacture. The only way to keep your bike or unit running is with used parts. When you buy electrical parts you could be buying a faulty part. The electrical part may check out in good operating condition on the bike. Then when you hook them up, they fail to operate. Some companies feel that it is your problem, it worked when they removed it. The part may have been 5 minutes away from failing. But if this is the only part available talk to the person and make sure you can send it back or get a refund. Ponderay Yamaha has just picked up a 1980 XS1100 Yamaha Special. The engine runs, but the stator generator is shorted out. All parts are well below half price. The engine smokes if it sets for a week or so. The running gear is in good condition. All parts that we sell will be in good to excellent condition. The front fairing Windjammer is in excellent condition.
Try and get a picture of the part. Today with E-mail and fax, this should not be a problem. Ask the person that is selling if the parts have scratches or dents or missing pieces. Make sure you have the right year and make and model. Some part may fit different models and makes. The dealers can do a part comparison, of what bike or units use the same parts. Sometimes the part may fit several different models.
